My name is Katherine, and I am an artist working in illustration and digital photography. My practice is informed by twinship, mythology, and global folklore, with a focus on rekindling the sense of wonder that once came so naturally to us.
My practice began as an exploration of identity after losing my identical twin and has expanded to themes of resilience, motherhood, and cultural heritage. I often incorporate symbolism, affirmations, and playful fruits and florals that honor nostalgia and my family’s legacy. My picture book Mixing Colors with Tropical Fruits & Dishes blends bilingual learning, color recognition, and Caribbean cuisine, with each illustration rooted in memories of cooking with my twin sister.
As a Twinless Twin, my work embraces transformation and reflection. Through self-portraiture and installation, I explore identity and loss, drawing inspiration from artists like Francesca Woodman, Cindy Sherman, and Frida Kahlo. My installations use mirrors, furniture, and personal artifacts to create intimate spaces for contemplation.
